deep house emporium ornate music cast their worldly gaze to the far east, calling on japanese producer sai, a graduate of agness sthlm audio imprint, for a killer four track ep entitled bedroom eyes. the sultry, suggestive nature of the title is translated into the tunes on offer, with opening cut >2am< offering the most subtle of acid lines alongside piano flourishes and a spoken word vocal snippet. better still is the afterhours bump of >blue lingerie<, while >mr< toughens things up on the flip with a analogue grit and cooing vox. the 12 inch is rounded off with another original cut in >another myself<, which is dripping in classic motor city house vibes with gently oscillating bass tones reaching deep down inside.

for the first solo ep on horror boogie, fedka the irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on horror boogie 01. fedka the irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band pest (ninja tune), alongside ben pest (panic bridge, victim, bonus round). he is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. he has released on panic bridge, alongside the other pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold. here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth >words for friends<. a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. next up is one uncertain eyebrow. a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on. on side b, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up >stick it< progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. last but not least, is >you only die once<, another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line.

ununhexium (r-n 116) is the sixth release of raster-noton unun series. emptyset is a bristol based project formed in 2005 by james ginzburg, di- rector of the multiverse studios and the curator and electronic artist paul pur- gas. the project explores the legacy of analogue media, integrating aspects of rhythm, signal processing and spatial recording within the framework of mini- malist composition. their work interrogates the perceptual boundaries between noise and music and the potential for both technology and architecture to em- bed and codify themselves within sound. collapsed is emptysets first release on raster-noton and investigates the threshold where sonic structure is destabilized to the point where a chaotic order emerges out of a resistance to fragmentation and likewise explores the potential contained within this liminal space of transition. across the four tracks of the release a structural grammar is defined and then pushed to excess to the point where it reforms from repetitive and stable frameworks into non-grid based forms and ultimately chaotic rule sets.

luv005 already and no doubt another classy four tracker that will top a few sales charts in the coming weeks and months. it has been a wonderful summer for the luv shack crew with every release bettering the last. the response and reaction to the new label has been astounding and beyond a pleasant surprise. with intelligent dance music such as this, it really shouldnt be such a surprise, but in a world of mass mediocre music, it does happen more often than not, that the good stuff doesnt always find its way. the guys though have found a place in a lot of hearts and quite a few tasty dj sets and record boxes with four very consistent releases. so, here we go with what is yet another worthy addition to any half decent djs repertoire me thinks. and it is lee stevens who teams up with local friends to deliver a very crafted set of aural niceness for your distinguished pleasure.

there s only one thing that matches a new my love is underground 12 - a remastered pressing of one of the label s certified hits! paris underground trax volume 1 was one of the records that catapulted the french label into the spotlight - at the time produced anonymously, it later emerged that mr brawther was the man behind the four retro house cuts. it s a wonderful homage to the deeper strains of 90s new jersey, nyc underground and sexy thing remix still smack of kerri chandler at his most bumping, with fat pads, sultry vocals and gritty basslines. the b-side features uptempo gem hardcore deep house , while gtfo! glides along with warm, embracing chords. if you missed out first time round, don t make the same mistake again.
